Nr. 372:
Israel of God's eye!
For thus saith the Lord of hosts: He sent Me after glory, to the nations who plundered you. For anyone who touches you, touches his eye stone. Zechariah 2.12, this applies to the carnal Israel.
Romans 11 1. I ask then: Did God reject his people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham and Benjamin. 2 God has not rejected His people, the people whom he foreknew. Know ye not what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah, as he stands before God accusing Israel? 3 Lord, thy prophets, they have killed, and your altars torn down. I'm the only one left, and they seek my life. 4 But what is God's reply to him? I have kept seven thousand men left who have not bowed the knee to Baal. 5 Likewise, it is also in our time become a remnant chosen by God out of grace. 6 And it is by grace, not by works. Otherwise, the grace will be no mercy. 7 What then? The Israel striving, they have not achieved, but the elect have obtained it. The others were hardened, 8 as it is written:
God has given them a jaded spirit,
eyes that see and ears that do not hear,
to this day.
9 And David says:
Let their table become a snare and trap,
so they stumble and punished.
10 Let there be dark before them,
so they can not see,
and let their backs be bent forever.
11 So I ask, they stumbled that they should fall? Certainly not! No, because they fell came salvation to the other people, and so should Jews be jealous of them. 12 When their case has led to riches for the world and the loss of them have been to riches for the Gentiles, how much more will it not mean that they come with the full numbers?
13 I say to you who are Gentiles. As long as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I set my service high; 14 I do it with the hope that I can do my countrymen envy and save some of them. 15 If it was the reconciliation of the world that they were rejected, what must not lead to them being accepted? Yes, life from the dead! 16 Is the first bread holy, holy is the whole lump. Is the root is holy, the branches.
17 Some of the branches are now broken off, and that was a wild olive tree, have been grafted in among the branches and has received the sap from the root. 18 But do not imagine that you are better than the branches. If you do, remember that it is not you that support the root, but the root that supports you! 19 You may say, "Branches were broken off that I might be grafted." 20 All right, they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear God! 21 he spared not the natural branches, He will not save you. 22 So you see the words that God is both good and rigorous. String is he against those who have fallen, but to you he is good, if you hold onto his goodness. Otherwise, you should also be cut off. 23 But the other will be grafted in, if they do not hold on to his disbelief. God has the power to graft them in again. 24 You were cut loose from a wild olive, and against the order of nature grafted into the good tree. How much more will the natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree, those who by nature belong there? 25 Brothers, I'll tell you a secret, so you should not have too big thoughts about their own sense: Part of Israel were blinded until the nations have come into full figures. 26 In this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written:
From Zion savior come,
he shall take away all ungodliness from Jacob
27 and this is the covenant I will make with them
when I take away their sins.
28 Because of the gospel, they become enemies of God, that ye shall receive salvation. But because of the selection are the beloved of God - for the fathers sake. 29 For God did not regret their gifts and election. 30 You were once disobedient to God but now you have received mercy, because they were disobedient. 31 In the same way, they have now been disobedient, but the kindness you received, will cause that they now receive mercy. 32 God put all the disobedience to have mercy on all.
33 Oh, the depth of the riches
and wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and how unfathomable His ways!
34 Who knew the Lord's mind,
or who was his counselor?
35 Who gave him something first,
so he should get compensation?
36 From him and through him and to him are all things.
Him be glory forever! Amen.
If we understand the conflict in the Middle East and especially in Israel, we must know the history that the word of God until after. While aware of the glorious and great promises that God has given to Israel as a nation. When one has insight into this, will understand that this conflict is basically not a conflict between Jews and Arabs, but between God and Satan. This sounds very like and of course a simplification. Yes, there is. But there's no denying that this conflict is more of spiritual than physical in nature.
When we see the small country of Israel and how much that Arabs and Muslims have of the country, so it is actually towards over 100 times more land when we include the areas that the Palestinians are occupied by Israel in the West Bank or rather Judea / Samaria or the mountains of Israel and Gaza. South Arabs in Israel has with Egypt occupied the Sinai Peninsula. The Dead Sea and east of the Jordan Arabs have occupied parts of the country that Israel will have in the 1000 year kingdom which God has given them. Northbound has Lebanon and Syria occupied areas that God has given to Israel when Israel will be one nation under Christ from the Nile to the Euphrates in the south to the north.
Now we are really in why Israel has been his country again and why they are vulnerable to such pressures from the outside world without. It's their promises given to them by God. God does not regret their gifts, calling and election. Israel was chosen as 4,000 years ago when Abraham received a call from God and King David conquered Jerusalem 3,000 years ago and since then it has been and will forever be the eternal capital of Israel, that they should never share with someone else when it is where Jesus Christ will sit on the throne and rule over the world for 1000 years.
Isaiah 2 2 In the last days it shall be
that the temple of rock will be
established high above all the mountains
and lift up over the hills.
There shall all the nations flow.
3 Many people go off and say:
"Come, let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah,
to Jacob's God,
that he may teach us his ways,
and we may walk in his paths! "
For the Lord's law will go out from Zion,
Word of the Lord from Jerusalem.
4 He shall judge between the nations,
shall arbitrate for many peoples.
They shall beat their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation shall not lift up sword against nation
and no longer learn war.
That Israel is the future of nations and history, it is that which is the main reason for the conflict down in the Middle East. Why Israel "shut up" anyway? It says in Rom. 11. 28b. But because of the selection are the beloved of God - for the fathers sake. 29 For God did not regret their gifts and election.
How long is God's promise for fast and Israel? Scripture answers:
Jeremiah 31 35 Thus says the Lord,
who gives the sun for light by day
and arranged it so
the moon and the stars for light by night,
who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar-
- The Lord of hosts is his name:
36 I allow these schemes to yield,
declares the Lord,
shall the offspring of Israel for ever
cease to be my people.
37 Thus says the Lord:
If heaven above can be measured
and the foundations of the earth below can be explored,
I will also reject
whole house of Israel
because of all they have done, saith the Lord.
The word of God will never depart from Israel, before the heaven and earth pass away. Then God's promise to Israel will no longer be in effect, or all is fulfilled in Christ to the fullest.
I think it is fair to say that all the 7 Jewish feasts, described in 3 Gen. 23, has a prophetic perspective! They constitute a prophetic object lesson for the major events ranging from the death of Christ for the Millennium and the coming glory. The festivals can be divided into two divisions. The first 4 consecutive spring. These are Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits and Pentecost feast. All these are prophetically fulfilled in the past in and through Christ's death, resurrection, and the Spirit coming at Pentecost. The three last three festivals, which is celebrated in autumn (about 4 months after Pentecost), has upcoming events to do, and will get its prophetic fulfillment from rapture. These are Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles.
Sukkot (Hebrew: Sukkot), which also described in 3mos 23:39-43 and Nehemiah 8:14-15, is also celebrated in Israel today. The last of Israel's feasts are celebrated as in the Old Testament, by building temporary shelters which are adorned with fruits and flowers. Sukkot commemorates the desert wandering after their deliverance from Egypt, and was in biblical times, one of the three pilgrimage festivals (next Easter and Pentecost). Even today, many Jews go to Jerusalem to celebrate the day, especially at the Western Wall.
Tabernacles, which is the time for joy and celebration after you are done with the harvest, pointing toward the Messianic 1000 årsriket. Under the state of starvation time will be over time, both in Israel and in the world at large, through the fulfillment of the words of At 2:21-22: It shall happen in that day that I will hear, saith the Lord. I will hear the heavens, and the earth shall hear the prayer. The earth shall hear the prayer of grain, new wine and oil, and they shall hear Jezreel prayer. Only then shall lament, which has sounded throughout Israel, Passion, will be replaced by praise and rejoicing. Isaiah 35:10 says of this time: the Lord redeemed shall return and come to Zion with joy. Eternal happiness is over their head. Joy and gladness shall now, and sorrow and sighing shall flee. In those days Israel's position in the world radically changed in line with 5Mos 28:13 The LORD shall make thee the head and not the tail. You should always be upstairs and never be below, if you listen to the Lord, your God, which I command you today to take care of and maintain. And in Case 8:23 we read: In those days it shall come to pass that ten men of all nations tongues will address the garment of a Jewish man, saying, We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you !
We note in particular Item 14.16, where the context is about the coming of Jesus to the Mount of Olives to establish David's fallen tent (cf. Amos 9:11 and Acts 15:16), that all that is left of all the nations that attack Jerusalem must every year go up to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, and to participate in the Feast of Tabernacles. Only then will the promise of the land of Israel vows have their final fulfillment, including the strategically important Jewish areas of Judea and Samaria (the so-called West Bank). All human efforts to create peace in the Middle East will at best be short term. Some true and lasting peace will not come until the Prince of Peace to put all things in right order. Only then will there also be a general relationship between Jews and Arabs, the descendants of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob (author of the Jews) and the seed of Abraham through Ishmael and Esau (author of the Arabs). The wondrous words in Isaiah 19:23-25 should then have its final performance: In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will come into Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. And the Egyptians shall serve the Lord with the Assyrians. At that time Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, a blessing in the middle of the earth, because the Lord God Almighty, has blessed it, and said, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance! That said, I think it is fair to say, that even 1000-årsriket will be as a prelude to the day that God will create a new heaven and a new earth. Only then shall all evil and curse all be gone, and people of faith, the Lord's redeemed, will forever enjoy the fellowship of the Lamb!
Israel is the country that lies between the two rivers. It is the Nile and the Euphrates. David star speaks of Jesus that have come out of King David's loins or sperm.
What are the promises and just future for Israel!
But to be able to say something about the mystery of choosing in an easily understandable way, let us be with the following thought experiment. Consider this: Before God at all had created the universe, he had a game plan of salvation history and particularly the earth's history. God's election is namely salvation historically specific. When God had created the universe and the earth, he looked at his creation and found that it was good. Then he decided to do what he had decided, namely to create people who he could love and be loved and praised back from. God looked over all their solar systems and galaxies and myriads of planets and singling out a small speck of dust in the universe called Tellus, that our earth. On this planet, God wanted to reveal Himself. Just here, he would demonstrate his good will. But God had to pick out a beachhead for our earth. Then he decided on a specified geographical area on the planet, namely, what we now call Israel. This country would be God catchment for his revelation among the people he had created on earth.
So God chooses a certain person, Abram from Ur of the Chaldees, and through him to begin their selection process on earth. Abram, later renamed Abraham by God, grew up in heathen darkness. He received the order of choosing to go out of Ur to travel to the land God had chosen the land of Canaan, see 1MOS 12 While God chooses Abraham, he gives seven strong, clear and unconditional promises:
a) the selection of a people, the Jewish people. b) On land or residence of this people in a particular place on earth. c) that this people shall be blessed upon the earth. d) the curse / blessing for the nations and people who curse / blessing this Jewish people.
"You only have I chosen by, actually appoint, among all earth's families." Jer 1: 5 Read also 5Mos 14: 2 and 4Mos 14: 2 Why chosen Israel? Read 5Mos 7: 6-8.
God reaffirms its sovereign choice and like circles and spikes into His chosen revelation place at a particular location on earth. Right in the chosen land of Israel, mentioned as a corner in the contemporary world, God chose the small town small plain, Bethlehem, the beachhead for its salvation from heaven. "But you Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are little to be among the thousands of Judah ..." Earlier he had chosen Jerusalem to the capital, where his revelation place on earth, namely the temple was built, 2 Kings 21: 7, and where later salvation history's most important events were to take place, namely Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection.
God even as another way to select the people than we think is fair. Abraham is mentioned, Jacob over Esau selected, Paul discusses this "unjust" election in Romans 9: 11-16. Joseph was the second youngest of the children of Jacob, King David in his time the youngest of the sons of Jesse, Ruth was of hedningerot and came into Jesus' genealogical, Salmon gets Boaz by Rahab the prostitute and we see here that David and Bathsheba's son Solomon was with in Jesus' family.
God's Word tells us that the special election results special responsibility and punishment for adultery and failure. Israel, God in his wisdom foreseen the fall and made a plan of salvation from the beginning. Just God's election of the Jewish people does he punish Israel more powerful than any other people on earth, Amos 3: 2
Because he singling out specific people for their salvation, Jesus could say, "Salvation is from the Jews." And out of this people, he chooses a man, namely, his own Son, Jesus Christ. "And there came a voice from heaven, This is my Son, the Chosen One. Listen to him! "It was he who came first and foremost to take care of the lost people of Israel that he had chosen. We have a clear proof of Matthew 15: 21-24. Jesus still made an exception because of this non-Jewish woman's humility.
As the Son of God with a specific mission Jesus chooses the 12 apostles of Israel completely outside Israel's religious elite. Despite the draw by Judas apostasy apostle, God chose Paul to his special apostle to the Gentiles, Acts 9: 15, so that the selection should also be extended to them, Col. 3: 12 and 1 Thessalonians 1: 4 If we read such Room 11: 11, it appears that Israel had to be partially and temporarily blinded so that the Gentiles might be partakers of God's election.
About this election, Paul says, "Brethren, notice the call you received: Not many wise according to the flesh was called, not many mighty, not many high seed. But the foolish things of the world, that God chose to put the wise to shame. And the weak things of the world, that God chose to make it strong to shame. It is low in the world, and that which is despised, God hath chosen, that nothing is, to make it into nothing that is something - so that no flesh should glory before God. "So we see here that the selection principle and the basis is the same for Israel to us by hedningerot, namely, God's free choice, of grace and mercy alone.
So it is through God's election and the actions of the Jewish people and Israel, that I personally understand something of God's infinite mercy. Despite the drop, sin and defiance of God, he forgave his own people Israel again and again and never gave them up. 2000 years after the events in Bethlehem, the God of our generation he still stands by his promises to these people and want them to do, and deal with them as he said through his chosen prophets.
For many, however, even among Christians, today Israel and the Jewish people are not anything special above all other lands and peoples. Do we believe the Bible's selection of thought, we must see that Israel still has a special place in the present and future history. And then it becomes a lie to say that Israel is rejected because they rejected Jesus as the Messiah, and that the church has taken Israel's place and promises. This kind of theology, called replacement theology, we must reject. Paul rejects this idea clear in such Room 11: 1 and 17-24. By Room 11: 25-32 and 2 Corinthians 3: 15-16 stated it very clear that the God of Israel still stands by his selection of the Jewish people. The Bible describes in my opinion the Jewish people as the future of the people, that God will use in a special way, see eg. Item 8: 13-23.
King Star of David - the symbol that has followed Israel in the last 3000 years.
