Berit Nyland Christensen – my wife was buried in a beautiful and dignified funeral in Østre Aker Church here in the Capital!
Here are some pictures from Berit as a newlywed and the time around 1988/89 and thereabouts.
Pregnant with our first child Benedikte Rebekka, where we also have Sara Caroline and Benjamin together.
For me, Berit was not only beautiful on the outside, but even more beautiful on the inside.
Prov. 31. 10 A good wife - who can find her? She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband's heart delights in her, and there is no lack of gain.
12 She does him good and no harm all the days of her life.
19 She puts her hands on the rake, and her fingers grasp the toe.
20 She opens her hand to the needy and stretches out her hands to the poor.
25 Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.
26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, and loving advice is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the goings-on of her house, and she does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children rise up and call her happy; her husband stands up and praises her:
29 There are many capable women, but you surpass them all.
30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is fleeting; a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her labor, and her deeds shall praise her in the city gates.
I found the good wife, that is why the loss is so unbearable
Love has its price, with great pain and loss.
Berit was this wife as described here, and to the fullest.
Berit and I have had a very rich life together in every way.
Where we had 3 children together and now have 9 grandchildren.
Berit also got to travel to many places that she liked very much.
We have been all over Norway, also Sweden. We have been to Denmark on many holidays, which is my homeland and of course I have a lot of relatives there as my Father was Danish.
Berit has been to England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Italy, Crete, Spain, Turkey, Cyprus, Malta, Egypt, Iceland, Israel and the USA. There are also other places, so Berit has in every way been able to live a rich and good life with family, friends, good work colleagues and neighbors with whom she has always gotten along well.
In the church context, she has always been well liked, as elsewhere she was.
Berit was sociable, faithful and listening
There were not least many people who were not quite A4, Berit had a big heart for. Not least being a listener and able to meet them.
When she, for example, left Nydalen VG Skole, she had contact with several of them after she had retired. Berit probably only got 4 years as a pensioner.
My wife's personal information and some descriptions of her.
Berit was born at Stensby Hospital in Holmenkollen on Sunday, March 8, 1959.
Grew up in Råholt, with Father Gunnar Olav originally from Kviteseid.
Mother Edith Hansine Lien as a maiden name who originally came from Manndalen/Lyngen in Troms county.
Berit was no. 2 in a sibling group of 4.
Where Åse Sigrunn and Berit were close, 2 years apart.
In addition, there was brother Knut Harald who died in 2005 of bone marrow cancer, Berit died of pancreatic cancer.
So cancer has made a big dent in our family.
Youngest sister Lene, who made up a sibling group of four.
The sisters Berit and Åse-Sigrunn were seen as Øvre Romerike's athletics and skiing talents when they grew up, where Father Olav was a driving force as a former ski jumper and football player at Odd.
Berit was a good student and well-liked, as can be seen when you read the school report from her entire childhood.
At the age of 14, Berit became a believer during a revival at the youth school, where faith in Jesus was central to Berit throughout her life.
Berit was baptized and joined the Pentecostal church Håpet Eidsvoll, which is actually located in Råholt. Berit had a short commute to the church and other leisure activities.
Until her untimely death here on August 28, 2025 at A Hus here in Lørenskog.
She had to give up on cancer after over 2 years of fighting.
Berit was strong in all areas, but cancer was what took her life.
But not the most important thing - salvation - as she is now at home with Jesus.
If she is gone from the body.
No one took it from her - salvation in the blood of Jesus for time and eternity!

The old teacher writes about Berit:
Ingegjerd-Torunn Bergh
I remember Berit as an infinitely handsome student in my elementary school class for 6 years at Råholt school.
It is so fitting, Berit was simply like an angel of God in her being.
Infinitely handsome, kind, empathetic, sensitive, happy and loving.
After elementary and middle school at Råholt, Berit completed the Gymnasium at Eidsvoll.
Then Berit decided to go to Bible school in Sarons Dal Kvinesdal in Southern Norway.
With a subsequent 1 year of missionary work both in Norway and abroad et.
Where Berit probably had a spiritual breakthrough during the 2 years of Bible school and missionary/team work.
Picture from Sarons Dal around 1979.
Where she was also abroad like Sweden and Germany.
Also in Northern Norway where Berit had a relationship with through many holidays in Northern Norway and Kviteseid growing up.
Berit has told how they traveled to Northern Norway in Hercules planes when Berit's father worked in the military. Then they were allowed to travel on these planes for free.
Berit then continued her education at the Secretary's education here in Oslo at Otto Treider.
Where she first worked for 3 years in the newspaper Vårt Land, and then in Bergen Bank where she worked when she met me.
Berit and I met each other at Oslo Kristne Senter August 1987.
Where I had then come to Oslo to drive a driver and warehouse employee in Filadelfia publishing house. And worked as a preacher.
We also started a church here in Oslo around 1991 which we called Smyrna Oslo and were very successful.
Unfortunately, we did not fully understand how important it was to do God's work at the time by closing this church and moving to Western Norway.
We got married on January 22, 1988, where we settled in Vestli in Oslo.
There, Benedikte and Sara were born at Aker Hospital before we moved to Karmøy in 1993, where we lived until 2005.
Benjamin, the third child, was born at Haugesund Hospital in 1994 after moving to Western Norway.
After this, I started working at Norsk Hydro Aluminium in Karmøy for 10 years before we moved back to Oslo.
Berit worked most of the time she was working in Western Norway in Karmsund District Court as a secretary.
After we moved to the Capital, she started working within the school system, including Prinsdalen School and Nydalen VG School.
Where Berit was a secretary and also helped with teaching, among other things, children/youth with special needs.
Berit was a very skilled secretary. When she was very steady in grammar.
Now Berit's life is over on this earth so much too early
Only 66 ½ years!
In no way full of days, had wishes and hopes for many days and healing!
It is at the same time such a bright, warm and loving memory of Berit.
For me, I will carry her in my heart for the rest of my life as she has been the great love of my life for 38 years. Since we met each other, until her death.
It is so that words do not contain everything that was between the two of us throughout my adult life.
It is not entirely possible to describe Berit even more.
not least her children's blanket with both her own children, grandchildren and those who came close to her.
For me, she has been the best life companion imaginable, and that I could have had.
It was 38 years that I look back on with great, great gratitude.
Now she is home with Jesus, and I have to live on and just have to say it like it is.
Completely devastated by the loss, but it is important to continue seeking God.
That is why I am happy for all the prayers, support and also encouraging words that I have received recently.
Berit was also a missionary, we see that through these YouTube videos:
For now, it will be for me to live here at Hellerudtoppen here in Oslo.
And get back to work at Connect Bus in Vestby.
Right now I am on sick leave after all this that I have been through, which is about more than I can bear.
I have received a lot of support in all ways, which I greatly appreciate.
