No. 1544:
A sharp mistake of the FRP, which agreed at its national meeting to ban ritual circumcision of boy children. It is an untenable attack on freedom of belief, which will in fact make it impossible for Jews to live in Norway!
The circumcision is as long as Judaism is, it began with Abraham.
One can not be for Israel and the Jewish people and against circumcision!

From the newspaper the day!

Kjell Ingolf Ropstad, deputy chairman of KrF
The FrPs decided at their country meeting to ban ritual circumcision of boys. It is an untenable attack on freedom of belief, which in reality will make it impossible for Jews to live in Norway.
It also implies a misgiving of the ability of the Jews to be parents, and if such a ban is introduced, it will make Norway the most Jewish country in the Western world.
For millennia, male Jews have been circumcised on their 8th day of life. The attendance of that practice is almost one hundred percent among Jews, including those who are little or not religious, circumcising their children. Among these we find some of the foremost psychologists, pediatricians and neurologists in the world. Professionals who have the best prerequisites to assess what is best for the child. The FrP nevertheless believes to know better, and the practice was mentioned at their national meeting as an abuse of children. The meeting of the country followed up by proposing that the ritual circumcision of boy children be punished.
Criminalization is the most powerful instrument the state can use towards its citizens and it is a strong signal when a government party in fact says that Jews are so unwilling to be parents that their children must be protected with a penalty.
Former Ervin Kohn of the Mosaic Consortium states rightly that FrP's policy involves "banning Jewish religious practices", which in turn will make it virtually impossible for Jews to live in Norway. The Israeli UD also confirms that such a ban will make it difficult to live as a Jew in Norway, and regrets the decision to the FrP's national meeting. In the day of 9th of May, the leader of one of Europe's largest Jewish organizations is even longer calling the "openly antisemitic" decision:
Call FRP-resolution "openly anti-Semitic"
The decision is also based on incorrect premises. Comparing ritual circumcision of boys with genital mutilation of girls, as FP representatives did during the national debate, is totally meaningless. Circumcision of girls is a serious assault and destruction of women's genital organs, while ritual circumcision of boys' babies is medically harmless. Male circumcision is the most common surgical procedure in the world, and a series of studies has been done, all of which deny that circumcised boys experience any ailments associated with this later in life. Cutting in a competent manner has low risk, and extensive research even suggests significant positive health effects of the procedure.
The Progress Party's decision to prosecute ritual circumcision of boys' babies is simply no progress but a major backslash of religious freedom and the treatment of the minority who has been exposed to the most discrimination and abuse in the country over time.
Final Comment:
I think this was just a mistake!
